The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced a delay in the first-ever direct flight from London Gatwick to Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport. Initially scheduled for December 3, 2024, the inaugural flight has been rescheduled due to short notice, with its arrival now expected later this week.

The service, a collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines, is a landmark achievement, making Kumasi the destination for Ghana’s first direct international flight outside the capital, Accra.

In a statement, GACL assured the public that the second scheduled flight, set for December 15, 2024, remains unaffected.

This new connection is anticipated to enhance air travel options and foster regional growth by boosting tourism, trade, and investment opportunities in Kumasi and its surrounding areas. The initiative underscores GACL’s commitment to expanding Ghana’s aviation network and strengthening its global connectivity.
