Fire Breaks Out at Commonwealth Hall, University of Ghana

A fire broke out at the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon, on the evening of June 4, 2024.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service are currently on the scene attempting to control the blaze.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, some residents speculate that an electrical fault might be responsible.

The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Hon. Lydia Alhassan Seyram, shared on Facebook that the prompt response from the fire service helped prevent further destruction and ensured the safety of students.

“The timely intervention by the Ghana National Fire Service is commendable here at Commonwealth Hall (Amphitheater), where the place has been gutted by fire. The swift intervention by the Hall Tutor and Management is worth mentioning. My children are safe and in good hands,” she stated.
