Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has disclosed that four individuals have been arrested and granted bail in connection with the March 2025 cocaine bust in Cape Coast, which saw security operatives intercept 3.3 tonnes of the illicit substance.
The high-profile drug seizure, executed by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), occurred at Pedu Junction, where officers stopped a tipper truck transporting 143 sacks of cocaine hidden beneath sand.
Briefing Parliament on July 9, the Minister confirmed that the driver, his assistant, and four additional suspects were apprehended. However, two prime suspects remain at large.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest the two fugitives,” Mr. Muntaka said, assuring lawmakers of the government’s unwavering commitment to fighting drug trafficking.
The case is scheduled to return to court on July 24, 2025.
