A 43-year-old farmer, Abdulai Yussif, has been remanded into prison custody by the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court for allegedly raping a deaf and mute woman in a bush.

Yussif, who pleaded not guilty, is expected to reappear before the court on December 11, 2025.

According to Police Detective Chief Inspector Samuel Kyei Baffour, the incident occurred on July 14, 2025. The 40-year-old victim, who lives with her grandmother at Afreseni near Mankranso, was on her way to the farm when she noticed the accused following her. After stepping aside for him to pass, he allegedly dragged her into the bush, forcibly undressed her, and raped her.

The prosecution said the accused later gave the victim GHS 200 and warned her not to report the incident. She informed her grandmother upon reaching the farm, leading to a complaint at the Mankranso Police Station.

Yussif was subsequently arrested and, according to investigators, admitted to the act in his caution statement. He has since been charged and brought before the court.
