East Legon Accident: 16-year-old Son of Bishop Salifu Amoako Remanded into Custody

Elrad Salifu Amoako, the 16-year-old son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, has been remanded into custody by the Accra Juvenile and Family Court following a tragic accident in East Legon on October 12, 2024. The accident, which resulted in the deaths of two 12-year-old girls, has led to Amoako facing eight charges, including manslaughter.

The court session on November 1, 2024, saw Amoako being ordered to remain at a correctional center until his next hearing on November 7, 2024. To prevent any attempts to flee, the court has also retained his travel documents.

The incident occurred when Amoako, allegedly driving a Jaguar SUV, collided with an Acura, leading to the fatal outcome. The young age of the driver and the severity of the charges have drawn significant public attention and concern.

The police arrested Amoako’s parents, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, to assist with the ongoing investigations.

The parents were charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive. However, they have since been granted bail by the High Court in Accra, with each parent posting a bail amount of GH₵50,000.
