President John Dramani Mahama has warmly welcomed Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang back to Ghana following her medical leave, sharing positive health updates from her doctors while encouraging her to ease back into work.
Speaking at an official event in Accra on Thursday, May 22, President Mahama revealed that medical professionals had given the Vice President a glowing report on her recovery. “The doctors say you are 20 years younger. That is what the professor told me that you are okay and fit for the job,” Mahama shared.
Despite the encouraging prognosis, the President advised caution, suggesting a gradual return to her full official duties. “We will ask that you take it easy for a little while, and after that, we will see how things go,” he added.
Opoku-Agyemang’s medical leave, which extended beyond the initially expected three weeks, included treatment abroad after preliminary care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. Her absence, coinciding briefly with President Mahama’s own travel, had sparked public concern over leadership continuity.
Now back in the country and confirmed to be in good health, the Vice President is expected to steadily resume her responsibilities, bolstering the government’s momentum in its policy implementation and national agenda.
