Devastating Fire Destroys 21 Bedrooms in Ashanti Region Compound House, Displacing Over 50 Residents

A fire outbreak in Anloga, located in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has caused significant damage after engulfing a compound house and destroying 21 bedrooms. The incident, which occurred on Friday, October 27, has forced more than 50 occupants to seek alternative accommodation, while properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis have been lost in the blaze.

Fire authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started around 10 a.m. It took over an hour for the fire department to bring the flames under control.

Asamoah Kennedy, the Officer in Charge at Manhyia Fire Station, revealed that when the fire brigade arrived at the scene, 21 bedrooms had already been consumed by the inferno. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

“The cause of the fire is not yet known, it’s still under investigation and we are on it. It will come out later. The fire started a longer period before they called the GNFS,” said Kennedy.

He further explained that the fire department received the emergency call at 9:05 a.m., but due to the delayed response, the fire had already spread extensively. The affected compound house consisted of a single structure with 21 bedrooms.

Following the devastating incident, the displaced residents have been forced to seek shelter with friends and family. Their immediate needs for housing and personal belongings are being addressed as they cope with the aftermath of the fire.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and the need for swift action in emergency situations. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent such disasters.

The Ashanti Region fire department continues to investigate the cause of the fire, with the hope of providing answers to the affected residents and preventing similar incidents in the future.
