The officers will remain in police custody until they reappear before the court on March 25.

They were proffered with the charges of conspiracy to commit crime and abetment.

According to the Court, bail application cannot be granted due to the gravity of the crime after the lawyer for the suspects had prayed to the court to accept a bail application.

Constable Affisu Yaro Ibrahim, Constable Richard Boadu, Constable Rabiu Jambedu, Constable Albert Ofosu and suspect, Razak Alhassan, a civilian, were arrested on Tuesday for their involvement in the bullion van robberies in Accra.

Four more policemen and one civilian have been arrested for their involvement in the bullion van robberies that rocked Ghana last year.

According to the Police, the five were arrested after further investigations into the bullion van robberies.

The attacks on bullion vans became rampant in 2021, with many injuries and deaths recorded.

As a result of the rampancy, soldiers were tasked to escort bullion vans to reduce the attacks.

Meanwhile, the two police officers who had been arrested earlier in the ongoing investigations have died.

During a raid at Borteyman in Ashaiman to apprehend more suspects, there was an exchange of gunshots and the two police officers, Constable Reindolph Gyimah Ansah and Corporal Stephen Kwaku Nyame, were shot and were pronounced dead on arrival at the Police Hospital where they were rushed to.
