The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has refuted claims that it sponsored the Ghana national football team with a GH¢12 million donation.
In a public notice, the Board described allegations that it diverted funds meant for cocoa farmers to support the national team as false, misleading, and without factual basis.
COCOBOD stated categorically that it has neither sponsored the Black Stars nor redirected resources intended for farmer payments for such a purpose.
“At no point has COCOBOD diverted funds meant for farmer payments to support the Black Stars,” the statement emphasised.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to its core mandate, which includes prioritising the welfare of cocoa farmers through prompt payments, the provision of inputs and extension services, and sustained investment in the cocoa sector.
COCOBOD also urged the public to disregard the circulating claims and rely only on its official communication channels for verified information.
The clarification comes amid growing public scrutiny over funding allocations and national expenditures, as the Board seeks to assure cocoa farmers and stakeholders that their interests remain its top priority.
