Central Regional Police Arrest Joshua Karry Arthur Over Murder Of UEW Senior Lecturer

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a senior lecturer from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in Essuokyir, Central Region.

According to an official police statement released today, 22-year-old Joshua Karry Arthur was apprehended for his alleged involvement in the killing of the lecturer, who had been reported missing on May 21, 2025. Colleagues of the victim alerted authorities after failing to reach him for an extended period.

Police investigations led officers to the lecturer’s residence, where the suspect was discovered and arrested. During a search of the premises, bloodstains were found, which guided officers to a heap of sand approximately 23 meters away. Upon excavation, the body of the deceased was uncovered, buried beneath the sand.

The police recovered several items believed to belong to the murdered lecturer from the suspect. These include two Samsung mobile phones, a laptop, a 50-inch television, and a Toyota Fortuner car key.

The body has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities confirmed that he will be arraigned before court.
