Carpenter Arrested for Alleged Murder of Security Guard at Kibi

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter, Kwame Arhin, also known as Abompe, for allegedly murdering a security guard at Kibi in the Eastern Region.

The suspect was apprehended on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after police received a distress call the previous day reporting the killing of a man at Kibi Newtown. A team of detectives, including the Crime Scene Management Unit, was immediately dispatched to the scene to begin investigations.

Upon arrival, police discovered the body of a male adult identified as Jonas Baah Sarpong. The crime scene was processed, and the body was transported to the Kibi Government Hospital morgue before being transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased worked as a security guard at the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education. According to police reports, a misunderstanding occurred between him and the suspect, leading Kwame Arhin to allegedly slash the victim’s throat with a cutlass before fleeing into a nearby bush.

Arhin was later arrested and is currently in police custody as authorities continue their investigations. He will be processed for court as the case progresses.

Police assure the public of continued efforts to ensure justice is served.
