BREAKING: Hansi Flick To Become Germany Next Coach After Euro 2020

Hansi Flick will be the new Germany coach replacing Joachim Löw after the Euros. Flick has signed a 3-year contract until 2024.

The Bayern Munich boss will replace Joachim Low after the finals this summer, bringing an end to Low’s 15-year stint in charge.

Flick had informed the Bundesliga champions last month that he intended to leave the club at the end of this season. His contract officially begins on July 1.

The 56-year-old was pictured alongside Germany’s technical director Oliver Bierhoff as the announcement was made across social media platforms on Tuesday morning.

Flick was assistant to Low in the national team between 2006 and 2014, and has excelled as the head coach of Bundesliga’s most decorated club – winning an unprecedented sextuple with the Bavarian outfit in 2020.

Speaking on his appointment, Flick said: ‘Everything happened very quickly, especially signing the contract, but I’m really happy to be the Germany head coach from autumn.

‘The season has just finished and the last two years at FC Bayern have left their mark on me. The team spirit and attitude of the players were excellent and I will take plenty with me that will help my work in my new role.

‘I’m really excited because of the class of players we have in Germany, especially the youngsters. We’ve got every reason to be optimistic about future tournaments, including the home EUROs in 2024.’

Low’s departure had already been agreed as he prepares to end a journey that began for him in 2006.

Low took Germany to World Cup glory in 2014, as well as three consecutive semi-final appearances at the Euros.

His tenure began to unravel in 2018, when his Germany side failed to get out of the group stages at the World Cup in Russia, and it reached its nadir in March when they were stunned by North Macedonia in their World Cup qualifying group.
