Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, along with assistant coaches John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda, were involved in a serious road accident on the Tarkwa-Takoradi road. The incident occurred as they were traveling to Accra after attending a match between Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex and Ghana FA Cup holders Nsoatreman on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Images shared on social media depicted the significant damage to their vehicle, raising concerns about the severity of the accident. However, initial reports suggest that the coaches were fortunate to escape without major injuries. Fatau Dauda, the goalkeepers’ trainer, was seen walking past the wreckage, indicating that they were likely unharmed. A thorough medical check-up is expected to be conducted to confirm their condition.

The coaches were on their way to Accra to begin preparations for Ghana’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger. The Black Stars are scheduled to commence their qualifying campaign on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Despite the unsettling experience, the trio remains focused on the task ahead as they gear up to lead the national team in the crucial AFCON qualifiers.
