In the African Games Women’s football event, the Black Princesses sealed their spot in the semifinals by defeating Tanzania 2-1 at Cape Coast Stadium on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
The game kicked off with Tanzania dominating possession, frustrating the Black Princesses who struggled to maintain their composure. Despite this, Tanzania capitalized on their chances, taking the lead in the 23rd minute courtesy of a goal from Hasnath Ubamba.
However, Ghana refused to let the early setback deter them. They clawed their way back into the match just before halftime, as Tracey Twum’s powerful header leveled the score at 1-1, bringing her total goals in the tournament to three.
The second half witnessed a resurgence from the Black Princesses, who asserted their dominance and put Tanzania under immense pressure. Their relentless efforts paid off when Mukarama Abdulai scored the decisive goal, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Ghana.
With their semifinal berth already guaranteed, the Black Princesses will face Uganda in their next group match on Friday, March 15, 2024. They will look to maintain their winning momentum as they aim for another crucial victory on their quest for gold.
