An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a 42-year-old retired military officer, Mr. Daniel Asiedu, accused of defrauding individuals of GH₵194,500.00 under false pretenses of enlisting them in security services.

Asiedu, who failed to appear before the court, is alleged to have convinced a group of young people in 2023 that he had secured slots at the Jubilee House to enlist Ghanaians into various security services. Subsequently, he collected GH₵194,500.00 from them, promising admission into their preferred security training schools within three months.

However, failing to fulfill this promise led the complainants to demand a refund, resulting in Asiedu’s arrest on January 4, 2024. In his cautioned statement, the accused admitted to meeting an individual who claimed to be a National Security Personnel and acknowledged conspiring with a private soldier named Ebenezer Abor in committing the crime.

Despite multiple attempts by the prosecution, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Maxwell Oppong, to secure Asiedu’s presence in court, he has evaded appearing, leading to the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.
