Bayern Munich is reportedly set to part ways with head coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the current season. According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the decision comes after crisis talks between the club and Tuchel, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.
Tuchel, who took over from Julian Nagelsmann in March 2023, initially led Bayern to their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title. However, the team has struggled to find consistency this season, currently sitting eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the league.
The club’s form in other competitions has also been disappointing, with Bayern exiting the DFB-Pokal in the second round and facing a challenging task to progress in the Champions League after a first-leg loss to Lazio in the round of 16.
With results not meeting expectations, the Bayern Munich board has reportedly decided that a change is necessary in the summer. Tuchel’s contract, which was set to run for another year, will be terminated early.
Potential candidates to replace Tuchel include Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso and Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp. Bayern Munich will now begin their search for a new head coach to lead the team forward.
