Armed Robber Sentenced To 14 Years For Stealing iPhone And Cash In Millennium City

A 25-year-old man, Kolie Samuel, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for a violent robbery involving an iPhone 16 Pro Max and an undisclosed amount of cash in Millennium City, Gomoa East.

The Ofaakor Circuit Court handed down the sentence on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, after Samuel pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and causing harm.

According to the Central East Regional Police Command, the incident occurred at around 5:30am on July 10 near the Golden Pride Preparatory School. Samuel reportedly attacked a woman, violently seizing her handbag, which contained the premium smartphone and cash.

Following the robbery, the police launched a swift investigation, aided by intelligence and information provided by the victim. Later that same day, they arrested Samuel at his hideout in Ngleshie Amanfro.

During the arrest, officers retrieved the stolen iPhone 16 Pro Max, along with several other suspected stolen items. These included a Dell laptop, a gold necklace, two pairs of AirPods, three wristwatches, ten memory cards, and various mobile phones (iTel, Nokia, and Alcatel brands). Police also found a wallet containing a health insurance card with the name Kwapong Sahnan, indicating that the accused may have been involved in multiple robberies.

DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, confirmed the arrest and sentencing in a statement.

“The Central East Regional Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public by bringing perpetrators of such crimes to face the full rigors of the law,” he said.

In addition to the 14-year sentence for robbery, the court imposed a concurrent 5-year sentence on Samuel for causing harm during the attack. The case adds to ongoing efforts by Ghanaian law enforcement to curb violent street crimes across the country.
