
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, , says he would not be surprised if earns a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ayew, currently playing for , has not featured for the Black Stars since Ghana’s friendly matches against Nigeria and Uganda in March 2024.
The 36-year-old forward has since been left out of several squads, including Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and World Cup qualifying matches.
Speaking on Adom FM, Adams suggested that Ayew’s experience and continued club activity could still make him a viable option for national team selection.
“Dede Ayew, too, is picking up, and as long as he has not retired, I won’t be surprised if he makes it into the [2026 World Cup] squad,” he stated.
Ayew joined NAC Breda in January after leaving French side Le Havre at the end of last season. Since moving to the Dutch club, he has started their last three matches in the Eredivisie and is seeking his first goal for the team.
The 2026 tournament, to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will mark another opportunity for the veteran forward to extend his international career if selected.
