Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa Wins 2024 Agrifood Future Prize

Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, the Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, has been honored with the 2024 Agrifood Future Prize at the Agrifood Future event in Salerno, Italy. The award recognized her outstanding contributions to strengthening agri-food systems in Africa, particularly in Ghana.

The prestigious event, jointly organized by Unioncamere and the Chamber of Commerce of Salerno, was supported by the European Parliament, Italian ministries, Google, and Made in Italy. The event focused on reforming Italy’s agri-food sector and expanding global conversations on sustainable food systems.

Presenting the award, Andrea Prete, President of Unioncamere, praised Ms. Akosa’s vision for the future of food, highlighting her commitment to empowering young people and women. Prete also hinted at potential collaborations between Agrifood Future and Agrihouse Foundation.

In her acceptance speech, Ms. Akosa emphasized the unifying power of food, linking it to peace, development, and sustainability. She dedicated the award to women who are committed to advancing the agri-food system through courage, passion, and determination.

Ms. Akosa also highlighted the importance of agriculture as a divine assignment and urged for action to protect the future of food, adding that one in five people globally depends on animal agriculture. She expressed optimism for future collaborations and applauded the strong youth presence at the event, which gave her hope for the future of food systems.
