Akufo-Addo Congratulates Mahama on 2024 Election Victory, Commits to Smooth Transition

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive win in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election. The announcement came after the Electoral Commission, led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, declared Mahama the victor on Monday, December 9, 2024.

In a phone call, President Akufo-Addo pledged to ensure a seamless transfer of power on January 7, 2025. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with Mahama and his team to facilitate a successful transition process.

Akufo-Addo lauded the Electoral Commission, Ghanaian citizens, and all stakeholders for their dedication to a peaceful and credible election. He emphasized that the process reflected Ghana’s strong democratic values and commitment to the rule of law.

The President extended an invitation to Mahama for a meeting at Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, to formally begin the transition. This gesture underscores the collaborative spirit both leaders aim to foster during this critical period.
