Don’t Be in A Rush To Judge Me- Muhammadu Buhari Replies Akuffo Addo

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the international community, especially those who have shared concerns about the protests in Nigeria to be slow in Judging his silence.

The Protest of the Nigerian Youth was to plead the Nigerian government to pull down the operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigerian police but instead it has been alleged the Nigerian government ordered the protesters to be shot by the SARS.

Breaking his silence, President Buhari acknowlege the concerns showed by his neighboring countries and other International communities including the United Nations, the African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) for demanding calm and restraint on the part of both protesters and the police.

Addressing the nation on Thursday, October 22, he said “To our neighbours in particular, and members of the international community, many of whom have expressed concern about the ongoing development in Nigeria, we thank you and urge you all to seek to know all the facts available before taking a position or rushing to judgement and making hasty pronouncements.”

Though the president said “I am indeed deeply pained that innocent lives have been lost,” some Nigerians citizens are still not satisfied with his address.
