The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has dismissed recent social media claims suggesting that Minister Kofi Iddie Adams sponsored individuals to travel to Germany in business class to watch the Ghana national football team in an international friendly.
In a statement issued on Sunday, March 29, the Ministry described the allegations as “false and without any basis” and urged the public to disregard misleading narratives circulating online.
According to the Ministry, the individuals seen in a viral video at the airport departure tunnel are not known to the minister. The encounter, it explained, was a casual interaction, common for public officials when meeting citizens in such settings.
The Ministry further emphasized that Minister Adams travelled alone on official business to engage the Black Stars and their technical staff ahead of the friendly matches. No staff or delegation accompanied him on the trip.
Additionally, the Ministry categorically rejected claims that any funds—whether from the government budget or corporate sponsorship—were used to support fan travel. No arrangements have been made to facilitate, upgrade, or sponsor any individuals for the matches.
Reiterating its commitment to accountability, the Ministry assured the public of its dedication to transparency and the prudent use of public resources.
“This statement is to clarify that the Ministry has not committed any funds towards the international friendly matches, and the claims circulating online are entirely unfounded,” the Ministry added.
Ghanaian football fans have been advised to rely on official updates from the Ministry and the Ghana Football Association for accurate information regarding the Black Stars and international matches.
