The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has announced plans to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to strip them of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.

CAF ruled on March 17 that the final between the Senegal national football team and the Morocco national football team be awarded as a 3-0 victory to Morocco after overturning the original result.

The decision followed an appeal by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF), with CAF stating that Morocco’s right to be heard was not respected during the initial disciplinary process.

CAF’s Appeal Jury also found that Senegal’s conduct during the match breached Articles 82 and 84 of AFCON regulations.

However, the FSF has strongly rejected the ruling, describing it as “unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable,” and warning that it undermines the credibility of African football.

In a statement, the federation confirmed it will initiate an emergency legal process at CAS in Lausanne to challenge the decision.

The case is expected to draw significant attention, as Senegal seeks to overturn CAF’s ruling and reclaim the AFCON 2025 title.
