
Two persons have been hospitalised after sustaining burn injuries in a fuel tanker fire on the Koforidua–Mamfe stretch at Amanprobi on Wednesday, March 4.
The victims, the driver and his mate, are receiving treatment at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital and are reportedly responding to care.
The incident occurred after the tanker was involved in an accident, triggering a fire that engulfed part of the busy road.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were deployed to the scene to contain the blaze.
Speaking to Citi News, the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Service, DOIII Ignatius Kwamena Baidoo, said firefighters arrived at the scene at about 10:00 a.m., brought the fire under control by 11:20 a.m., and fully extinguished it shortly after.
He confirmed that the injured driver and his mate were transported to the hospital for medical attention.
