U.S. Embassy in Accra Opens Over 1,000 Visa Appointment Slots

The U.S. Embassy, Accra has announced the immediate availability of more than 1,000 non-immigrant visa appointment slots, giving prospective travellers the opportunity to secure interview dates within the next week.

According to the Embassy, a significant number of B1/B2 visa appointments designated for business and tourism travel are currently open. Applicants have been encouraged to take advantage of the newly available slots.

The move forms part of broader preparations by the United States to facilitate increased travel ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

In a notice shared on Facebook on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Embassy urged individuals planning to apply for a U.S. visa to book their interviews promptly.

“There are more than 1,000 B1/B2 visa appointment slots available in the next week; one of those could be yours,” the notice stated.

Applicants who already have appointments scheduled for later in the year have also been advised to reschedule for earlier dates if convenient.

“Book a new appointment or move up one scheduled for later in the year we want to interview you now!” the Embassy added.

Prospective applicants have been directed to visit the Embassy’s official visa page for detailed information on requirements and the application process.

The announcement is expected to ease concerns among travellers who have faced extended waiting periods for visa interview dates in recent months.
