Police Intercept Large Quantity of Suspected Narcotics Concealed in Truck at Dambai

The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a large consignment of suspected narcotics concealed in a truck at Dambai.

According to a news release issued on February 10, 2026, the police, acting on intelligence, stopped and searched a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09. Although the trailer initially appeared empty, further inspection revealed that it had been modified with secret compartments sealed with six metal plates.

The concealed compartments were opened in the presence of the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Amidu Jubril. A thorough search led to the discovery of 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaf substances wrapped in yellow masking tape and suspected to be narcotics.

The truck has since been impounded, and all retrieved exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes.

Police confirmed that the suspect has been detained and is assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the region.
