A student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) has been stabbed amid disturbances linked to the ongoing Eastern Regional Inter-Schools Sports Festival in Koforidua, raising serious security concerns and fears of reprisal attacks.

The victim, identified as Jerome Appiah, was allegedly attacked by some Form Two students of New Juaben Senior High School while eating waakye on his way back to campus. Reports indicate that he sustained a deep machete wound to the shoulder and bled profusely after the attack.

Police personnel from the Eastern Regional Command responded swiftly to the incident and rushed the injured student to the Eastern Regional Hospital. Hospital sources say he is currently receiving treatment and is in stable condition.

Following the stabbing, the Headmaster of Koforidua SECTECH, Emmanuel Frimpong Benjabeng, together with some teachers, rushed to the Koforidua Youth Resource Centre, where the inter-schools sports festival was taking place, to avert possible retaliatory attacks by angry students.
