A petition has been formally submitted to President John Dramani Mahama calling for the removal of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Yonny Kulendi, over alleged judicial misconduct.
The petition, filed by Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta on September 30, 2025, accuses Justice Kulendi of improper interference in proceedings at the High Court in the ongoing ambulance scandal case: Republic v. Cassiel Ato Forson & 2 Others.
According to excerpts sighted by Citi News, the complainant argues that Justice Kulendi’s alleged conduct breaches provisions of the Code of Conduct for Judges and Magistrates, undermines judicial independence, and erodes public confidence in the judiciary.
Mr. Ofori-Atta confirmed to Citi News that the Presidency has formally acknowledged receipt of the petition.
Under Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, however, the removal of a Supreme Court Justice is subject to a strict constitutional process outlined in Article 146, which involves investigation and recommendation by a judicial committee.
It remains unclear what immediate steps the Presidency will take in response to the petition.
