A 26-year-old seamstress, Mabel Asantewaa, has been stabbed to death by her boyfriend at Chinese Down, near the Kasoa toll booth, in the early hours of Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
The suspect, identified only as Sammy, 27, reportedly attacked Mabel around 4:30 a.m., stabbing her multiple times in the neck. Eyewitnesses say he later attempted to save her but she succumbed to her injuries. Sammy is said to have ingested a poisonous substance in an attempt to end his own life.
According to neighbours, Sammy called for help after the act, prompting residents to break into the room. They discovered Mabel lying lifeless in a pool of blood, while Sammy was found weak and struggling on the bed.
The landlord alerted the police at Tuba, after which Sammy was rushed to the Amanfrom Polyclinic. He is currently under police guard as investigations into the incident continue.
