Seven Dead, Ten Injured in Nkawkaw–Accra Highway Collision

A devastating road accident on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, claimed seven lives and left ten others injured at Nkawanda No. 2 along the Nkawkaw–Accra Highway.

The crash, which occurred around 1:45 p.m., involved a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus (AW 4619-14) and a MAN Diesel cargo truck (GN 114-21).

According to the Nkawkaw Fire Station, which received a distress call and arrived at the scene at 2:00 p.m., the impact was severe. The Sprinter bus was completely wrecked, while the truck sustained partial damage.

Seven passengers in the Sprinter bus died on the spot. The victims included two boys, one girl, and four women.

Ten others, including the driver and mate of the MAN Diesel truck, sustained various degrees of injury. They were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital and Kenop Hospital in Nkawkaw for emergency treatment.

Rescue officials secured the accident scene, ensured the deceased were handled with dignity, and handed the case over to police investigators.

Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the collision.

The tragic incident has once again drawn attention to the Nkawkaw–Accra Highway, a stretch long considered a hotspot for fatal crashes.
