The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has raised concerns about possible violence in the upcoming Akwatia by-election scheduled for September 2.

Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Tuesday, August 19, he alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a history of intimidation and could deploy thugs to disrupt the polls and suppress voter turnout.

“When we were going to Ablekuma North, there were remarks from NDC people about retaliating for Ayawaso West-Wuogon, and it happened. I know these people; they are not honest. You will go there and see the ‘azoka’ boys,” he claimed.

Salam Mustapha stressed that while the NPP will work with the Ghana Police Service to ensure a peaceful process, the party will also take steps to protect its members from intimidation.
