Police have arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Gilbert Awuni, also known as Starboy, in connection with the recent fatal shooting of a queen mother at a naming ceremony in Gbawe Zero, a suburb of Accra.

According to police reports, Awuni was part of a group of individuals who attended the ceremony armed. He allegedly fired his weapon at close range, killing 33-year-old Queen Mother Pearl Naa Dodoo on the spot and injuring another woman, Priscilla Naa Ayeley, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.

The suspect reportedly admitted to firing the weapon while under the influence of alcohol. He fled the scene after the shooting and went into hiding in Asokore, in the Ashanti Region, where he was later apprehended.
