The United States has conducted airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz marking a major escalation in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. The strikes were confirmed by former U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared the attacks “very successful,” claiming that the heavily fortified Fordow facility was “gone.” He emphasized, “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!” but warned in a later Oval Office address that Iran faced “either peace or tragedy,” suggesting more U.S. military action could follow if necessary.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, condemned the attacks as violations of international law and the United Nations Charter. He labeled the strikes as “criminal behavior” and vowed that Iran would defend its sovereignty, warning of “everlasting consequences.”
The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, expressed deep concern, describing the strikes as a “dangerous escalation” that risks spiraling into a larger conflict with “catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region, and the world.”
According to Iranian state media (Nour News), at least 430 people have died and over 3,500 have been injured in Iran since Israel began its offensive. Iran has launched more than 450 missiles at Israel in retaliation, resulting in 24 civilian deaths and over 1,270 injuries, with 14 reported in critical condition.
This marks the most direct and deadly confrontation between the two nations in recent history, with fears growing over a broader regional conflict.
