The Mahama administration is set to table a bill in Parliament to reverse the names of public universities that were renamed or established during the tenure of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu announced the move at the swearing-in of the Governing Council of the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS), noting that the initiative follows extensive consultations with stakeholders, including academia, traditional leaders, and civil society.

The renaming is aimed at restoring the original identities and foundational visions of the institutions, not to undermine the legacies of the individuals they were named after. CKT-UTAS, the University of Mines and Technology, and Abdulai Salifu University are among those expected to be affected.
