Mobile Money Vendor Shot Dead in Armed Robbery in Aflao

A mobile money vendor identified as Christopher Ahordo, popularly known as Colombo, was shot and killed during an armed robbery on Monday evening in Aflao, located in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.

The fatal incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement Factory. According to eyewitnesses, two masked men in long robes, wielding pump-action shotguns, approached Colombo just as he was about to close his shop.

The robbers forcibly took a bag believed to contain cash and shot the vendor in the chest before escaping into a nearby bush while firing indiscriminately, making it difficult for bystanders to offer any help.

Colombo was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was later retrieved by residents and transported to the Ketu South Municipal Hospital mortuary.

The Ketu South Municipal Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Mobile money-related robberies have become increasingly common in Ghana, with several reported deaths across the country, particularly in the Ashanti Region.
