Samuel Nartey George has been officially approved as Minister for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovations after securing majority consensus in Parliament. The approval came as the Minority caucus abstained from the voting process, despite their initial opposition to his nomination.

The Minority had earlier planned to demand a secret ballot, citing concerns over Sam George’s past remarks and conduct during his vetting. However, following appeals from respected figures in the House, they opted out of the process to avoid further controversy.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin explained that the decision to abstain was influenced by calls for restraint, leading them to step back and allow the process to proceed without their participation.

Meanwhile, Parliament also approved the nominations of Rashid Pelpuo, Kofi Adams, and two other ministers-designate, paving the way for their swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama.

The approvals followed rigorous debates and voting on the floor of the House, underscoring Parliament’s commitment to thorough scrutiny of executive appointments.
