Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has earned international acclaim with three nominations at the prestigious 2025 International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).
The nominations, announced during a media launch on January 16, 2025, recognize Shatta Wale’s exceptional contributions to the global reggae and dancehall music scene. The categories include:

- Best African Dancehall Entertainer
The “Killa Ji Mi” hitmaker had an impressive 2024, highlighted by the release of his 10th studio project, Shatta and Fans Album (SAFA), on September 20. This 14-track album followed the success of his earlier Konekt album and featured collaborations with Wendy Shay and Amerado.
Shatta Wale capped off the year with a high-energy performance alongside dancehall heavyweights like Spice, Popcaan, and Bounty Killer at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert in Kingston, Jamaica, on December 31, 2024.
With six IRAWMA awards to his name, Shatta Wale holds the record as the most awarded African artist in the event’s history. His rival Stonebwoy won the Best African Reggae/Dancehall Entertainer award in 2020, adding to the friendly competition within Ghana’s dancehall scene.
The 42nd International Reggae and World Music Awards will take place on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts in South Florida. The event will celebrate global achievements in reggae and world music.
