Global InfoAnalytics has forecasted a parliamentary majority for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 elections. The latest projections indicate the NDC is likely to win approximately 150 out of 275 seats in Parliament, surpassing the majority threshold.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to secure 99 seats, with one going to an independent candidate. However, 29 constituencies remain highly competitive and too close to call, signaling intense contests in these areas.

On the presidential front, the report anticipates victory for NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, with 52.2% of the vote. His closest competitor, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, is projected to garner 41.4%. Alan Kyerematen and Nana Kwame Bediako are predicted to receive 2.5% and 3.0%, respectively, while other candidates account for 0.9%.

The analysis indicates Mahama is poised to win in 10 regions, including Greater Accra, Central, Volta, and Northern, while Bawumia is expected to dominate in Ashanti, Eastern, and North East regions.

Key factors contributing to the NDC’s projected parliamentary success include shifting voter sentiments in critical constituencies and prevailing economic and social challenges influencing public opinion.

With an overall voter turnout forecasted at 77.6%, the competitive nature of the elections, especially in the 29 undecided constituencies, could significantly impact the final results. Both major parties are expected to intensify efforts to secure swing seats in the final days of campaigning.
