An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced two men, Peter Amuzu, also known as “Master Pee,” and Isaac Brena Eshun, aka “Young,” to a total of 30 years in prison for robbing a banker of her vehicle and personal belongings at East Legon Christian Centre.
The convicts, initially pleading not guilty, changed their pleas to guilty when the case was heard. Presided over by Judge Kwabena Kodua Obiri-Yeboah, the court sentenced each to 15 years for conspiracy and another 15 years for robbery, with the sentences running concurrently.
The robbery occurred on August 19, 2024, when Amuzu and Eshun, armed with a pistol, ambushed the banker at her residence. They forcibly took her Mercedes Benz C180, valued at €60,000 (approximately GH¢1,045,738), along with her handbag containing:
- A German passport
- Three iPhones worth GH¢44,629.43
- A Ghana Card
- ATM cards
- Cash: $1,500, GH¢16,000, and Jamaican dollars
The stolen vehicle was transported to Tamale to be sold to a third accomplice, Ibrahim Mohammed, also known as “King Dawa.” Mohammed reportedly made an initial payment of GH¢10,000 for the car and concealed its identity by removing its license plate.
Eshun was arrested on August 22, 2024, leading to the recovery of various stolen items, including cash, electronics, and personal documents. Amuzu was apprehended a day later, and Mohammed was arrested on August 24 in possession of the stolen vehicle.
Further investigations revealed Mohammed’s involvement in other criminal activities, including the purchase of a Toyota Fortuner 4X4 stolen in a previous robbery linked to Amuzu. Mohammed admitted providing GH¢7,000 to procure the firearm used in the crime.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend another accomplice, Kwame, believed to be in possession of the weapon used in the robbery.
This case underscores law enforcement’s commitment to addressing violent crimes and ensuring justice for victims.
