The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that votes cast for the late Madam Akua Donkor in the 2024 presidential election will be considered rejected ballots.
The decision comes after the unexpected passing of Madam Akua Donkor following the printing of ballot papers that included her image and the logo of her party.
In an official statement, the EC explained that these votes will not contribute to the tally of valid votes and urged voters to take note of this directive as they prepare to cast their ballots.
To ensure transparency, the Commission stated that all election staff and representatives of the presidential candidates have been informed of the decision ahead of the vote counting process.
The EC’s announcement serves as an important reminder for voters to consider this development while making their choices in the upcoming elections.
