A 35-year-old woman, Mena Efua, is alleged to have sold her two-week-old baby for GH₵300 in Nkotompo, a community in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.

The shocking incident was confirmed by the suspect’s sister, Maame Esi, during an interview with Connect FM. Esi explained that she had assisted her sister in delivering the baby at home the previous Monday. However, a week later, the baby went missing.

Upon interrogation, Efua admitted to handing the baby over to an unnamed individual in exchange for GH₵300 but refused to disclose the identity of the buyer. Initially, Efua claimed to have given the baby to a nurse who promised to find a buyer for her. However, she has been unwilling to provide further details about the nurse or the person who bought the baby.

Esi expressed concern over the baby’s whereabouts, noting that her sister now claims the baby is in Accra, but has been unable to provide any specific location. The family is desperately seeking help to locate the missing child.

The case has been reported to the Sekondi Police Station and referred to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU). The police have since begun investigations into the matter.
