Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus, along with his club West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, has been charged by the English FA following a heated incident during West Ham’s 4-1 loss to Tottenham on Saturday. Kudus was initially given a yellow card for kicking Spurs defender Micky van de Ven and pushing both van de Ven and midfielder Pape Matar Sarr in the face. However, after a VAR review, the yellow card was upgraded to a red for violent conduct.
The FA has charged Kudus for “violent conduct and acting in an improper manner” due to his actions during the altercation. Additionally, both West Ham and Tottenham have been charged for failing to control their players during the incident.
Kudus and the clubs have until Thursday to respond to the charges. If found guilty, Kudus could face additional penalties beyond the standard three-match suspension. Former Premier League referee Mike Dean speculated that Kudus could face a six-match ban, as he struck two different players during the incident.
Despite the controversy, Kudus has been a key player for West Ham this season, making 10 appearances and scoring two goals.
