A tragic accident occurred early Saturday morning, around 3:30 am, involving a bus carrying approximately 60 children and officials from Ada-based Monarch Football Club. The bus was returning from a weeklong football tournament in Obo Kwahu when the incident occurred.
According to reports, the bus’s brakes failed while descending the Kwahu Mountain towards Nkawkaw, causing the vehicle to sway uncontrollably before overturning. One of the survivors, who was later transported to the hospital, recounted the terrifying experience to Agoo FM, stating, “We came to participate in the 32-club tournament at Kwahu Obo and were heading back to Ada. The bus started swaying from left to right until it eventually overturned. Our team is called Monarch.”
Emergency response teams, including the Fire Service and Police, quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the injured and recover the bodies of those who tragically lost their lives. Local taxi drivers, journalists from Agoo FM, and residents also played a critical role in assisting with the rescue efforts, transporting the victims to Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital for treatment.
