Juapong Unrest: One Resident Dead As Western Togoland Group Block Road

Some two locals have been shot by military men deployed to Juapong to restore calm to the area following an alleged road block by secessionist group Western Togoland.

The Western Togoland group, said they are fighting for Independence of Western Togoland which include the entire Volta region.

This is a very worrying situation over there and is really creating unrest among residents in the area.

According to reports, one resident has been shot dead. It is unclear which group fired the gun. The young man with dreadlocks only identified as Emma was not part part of the secessionist group. He sells coconut on the Juapong road strech.

During this midnight, this group of people stormed the streets of Juapong and blocked it by burning car tyres to prevent cars from plying the road.

 

There was a very heavy vehicular traffic as people using the road became frustrated.
