We have less than 73 days until this year’s general election, as we all know, there will always be news everyday, concerning the election or the voters register.
Well, the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, has made some allegations against the Electoral commission due to some challenges the citizens are facing already connecting to the election process.
According to the Flagbearer of NDC, these developments, if not addressed in time will disenfranchise many Ghanaians and also plunge the country into chaos.
Also, the deputy Secretary General of the NDC, has also said “All they need to do is to pull back, resolve all the problems. They should make sure that every person who went to the registration centre and registered has his/her name in the register. Send it back to the polling station”
Now,the Electoral Commission has admitted to some errors such as duplication of identification numbers, photographs, missing names among others in the on-going exhibition.
Moreover, the EC has reacted to the allegations of the NDC, in a press statement issued Wednesday evening, September 23, 2020.
THE PRESS RELEASE BY EC
“Our attention has been drawn to statements in the media by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer to the effect that the Electoral Commission is carrying out an agenda to remove the names of its supporters and sympathisers from the Voters Register.”
“This allegation is false,” the EC said in the press statement.
Meanwhile, the NDC flagbearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama and his running mate, Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang on Tuesday cut short their campaign tours in the Bono and Central regions respectively.
