EC Conducts By-election in Ejisu Today

The Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting a by-election in the Ejisu constituency today, Tuesday, April 30, to fill the seat left vacant by the late Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, who passed away on March 7, 2024.

On April 13, 2024, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) selected Kwabena Boateng as its candidate from a pool of nine contenders to contest for the seat and uphold the party’s position.

However, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has decided not to participate in the by-election.

Kwabena Boateng faces strong competition from former constituency MP Kwabena Aduomi, who is running independently after parting ways with the NPP.

In anticipation of the by-election, the EC has confirmed its readiness. Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services, has assured that all necessary materials are prepared and will be distributed early in the morning.

The results will be announced at the Coalition Centre, situated at the Catholic Church in Ejisu. Dr. Quaicoe reiterated the commission’s commitment to a fair and transparent electoral process.
