President Akufo-Addo Directs Finance Minister to Complete Abandoned Projects in Ashanti Region

In a bid to enhance infrastructure development in the Ashanti Region, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has instructed the Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, to expedite the completion of several abandoned projects before the end of the year. These landmark projects include the Kumasi International Airport, the Okomfo Anokye Maternity Block, and the Second Phase of the Kejetia Central Market redevelopment project, among others.

The directive was disclosed by the Finance Minister during a courtesy visit to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Dr. Adams assured the Asantehene of the government’s commitment to completing these key projects, emphasizing that efforts are underway to secure the necessary funding for their completion.

Dr. Adams explained that the projects had been stalled due to financial constraints, leading the country to seek assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Despite these challenges, he expressed the government’s determination to prioritize and expedite the completion of all abandoned projects in the region.
