GFA Issues Apology After Disappointing AFCON 2023 Performance

In a formal statement released today, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a heartfelt apology to the citizens of Ghana and all stakeholders following the subpar performance of the senior national team, the Black Stars, at the Africa Cup of Nations Cote D’Ivoire 2023.

Expressing understanding of the disappointment and frustration felt by the passionate football-loving nation, the GFA took full responsibility for the team’s underwhelming display, acknowledging that it fell short of the high expectations shared by everyone.

After a meeting involving the Executive Council of the Association and Chairmen of the Regional Football Associations (RFAs) on January 30, 2024, the GFA assured stakeholders that comprehensive measures are being implemented to address the issues at hand. A thorough review of the team’s strategies, training methods, compensation, and overall structure is currently underway.
