Accra High Court Orders Shatta Wale to Pay $120,000 Plus Additional Costs to Wildaland Festival Organizers

Ghanaian dancehall sensation, Shatta Wale, has been directed by the Accra High Court to reimburse a sum of $120,000 to Maverick City Entertainment, the organizers behind the renowned Wildaland Festival.

In a substituted service order discovered by Nydjlive.com, Her Ladyship Afi Agbanu Kudomor J. presiding over the case not only mandated the $120,000 payment but also granted other requests made by the plaintiff.

The court’s judgment encompasses interest on the $120,000 owed, calculated from December 14, 2021, to the date of final settlement, at a rate of 5.5%, which is equivalent to $10,892.47.

Shatta Wale has further been instructed to pay an additional sum of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC20,000).

This legal action stems from an incident where Shatta Wale was slated to perform at the Wildaland Festival held at the Shai Hills in 2021. Despite having received the full payment of $120,000 for his performance, he failed to make the scheduled appearance.

Following this episode, the founder of Wildaland Festival, Sadiq Abudulia Abu, publicly criticized the artist for his unprofessional behavior. Shatta Wale had expressed his discontent about Nigeria not reciprocating the love it receives from Ghana.
