President Nana Akufo-Addo has emphasized the unprecedented progress in road infrastructure within the Volta Region since his assumption of office. Addressing the Anlo State community during the 2023 Hogbetsotso Festival celebration on November 4, 2023, in Anloga, the President proudly shared that his administration has successfully completed the construction of 432 kilometers of roads throughout the Volta Region.
These substantial road projects encompass various vital routes, such as the dualization of the 22km Ho main road, the 30km Have to Kpando road, the enhancement of the Golokwati-Wli road, the resurfacing of the 15km Asikuma junction to Ho road, the graveling of the 30km Frankadua to Adidome road, and the surfacing of the 17.8km Matse-Klave and Lume Atsiame-Avetokoe roads.
Additionally, President Akufo-Addo pointed out that the Eastern Corridor Roads have experienced significant improvements during his tenure. By the close of 2022, an impressive 366 kilometers, representing 74% of the Eastern Corridor Roads, had been elevated from poor to excellent condition. This transformation has greatly facilitated the movement of goods and people along the corridor, enhancing regional connectivity and trade.
Furthermore, the President unveiled a promising development by securing funding of US$89 million from the African Development Bank for several vital road projects. These projects include the construction of the 29.35 km Asutsuare Junction – Volivo road, the 39.2 km Dufor Adidome-Asikuma Junction Road, the 23.9 km Asutsuare Junction – Aveyime road, and the construction of two interchanges at Dufor Adidome and Asikuma Junction.
These infrastructure advancements reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation and connectivity in the Volta Region, promising to further stimulate economic growth and improve the overall quality of life for the region’s residents.
